Sauli Palmu, MD, PhD
Sauli Palmu is the director of the Pediatric Early Phase Trials Unit based in Tampere University Hospital. He was one of the founders of his unit and he has experience in pediatric clinical trials in different subspecialities in Pediatrics and different phases. He has also been running clinical trials with medical devices. He is a specialist in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology and works as unit head in the Faculty of Medicine and Health in Tampere University. He has a passion for pediatric drug development.

Dr. Sievänen received MSc and ScD degrees in biomedical engineering from Tampere University of Technology in 1985 and 1991, respectively. During his 35-year career covering the field of biomedical engineering broadly, he has contributed to numerous clinical and experimental studies as well as research projects on applications of accelerometry, bioimpedance, biomechanics, bone densitometry, electrocardiography, electromyography, magnetic resonance imaging, physical performance, quantitative computed tomography, and ultrasound. His h-index is 78, and he has published over 365 peer-reviewed scientific articles.
